Youth Health and Safety: Sexual Health Education (SHEP)

Central Okanagan School District is committed to supporting the physical, emotional, and social well-being of all students. Our Sexual Health Education Program (SHEP) provides accurate, age-appropriate information to help students make informed decisions, understand consent, respect boundaries, and foster healthy relationships.

The SHEP team delivers education across multiple grades, covering topics such as puberty, personal hygiene, reproductive health, online safety, consent, and respectful relationships. The program empowers students with factual information while supporting families in guiding the development of their children’s values.

Benefits of SHEP include:

  • Reducing sexual violence and abuse through understanding consent and personal boundaries.
  • Promoting online safety and awareness of digital consent and online risks.
  • Supporting mental and emotional well-being, body confidence, and self-awareness.
  • Fostering inclusivity, respect for diversity, and healthy relationships.
  • Improving physical health and knowledge of reproductive health, STI prevention, and contraception.
  • Encouraging informed decision-making and empowering students to advocate for their well-being.

We are pleased to share the SHEP presentations in English, Dari, and Arabic for parents and community members to access and review at their convenience
